Lottery Jackpot Unclaimed Again

A lottery winner has still to claim a £1.26m jackpot won in Scotland - just days after a £5.4m jackpot ticket also went unclaimed.

National Lottery players in Aberdeen are being urged to check their tickets.

The numbers - 5, 9, 27, 35, 42 and 43 - were bought in the city area for the draw on Wednesday 22 February, and the claim deadline is 21 August.

A jackpot lottery winner from North Lanarkshire last week missed out on claiming a £5.4m prize.
The full prize is £1,265,098 and will be given away to good causes if it remains unclaimed, along with the interest.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: "I would urge all players to check their tickets very carefully.

"This is a life-changing amount of money and we are really keen to unite the winner with their prize.

People in Aberdeen give their views on such large sums being won and lost:

"We've already got the champagne on ice and there's one big celebration just waiting to happen for the owner."

To jog memories the National Lottery said that, on 22 February, Meck and Leo Sayer's Thunder in My Heart Again was dominating the music charts.

Good Night and Good Luck had just opened at the cinema, and audiences at His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen were enjoying a performance of Noel Coward's Private Lives.

This is not the first time that a prize in the area has gone unclaimed.

A Thunderball jackpot prize of £250,000 bought in the north east of Scotland went to good causes last year when it was unclaimed.

Players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their win if they have the successful ticket.

According to lottery operator Camelot, the £5.4 North Lanarkshire loss was the second largest unclaimed prize in the lottery's 11-year history.

The biggest unclaimed prize in the UK to date was a £9m winning ticket bought in Doncaster.
